As humans, we have finite lives and are constantly on the move.
On the other hand, the space we exist in has been there since the beginning of time.
What happened in the space in front of me a year ago, a decade ago, or even a hundred years ago?
At different times, different beings would have occupied the same space.
It could be a human, it could be a thing, it could be a tree, it could be just a pile of dirt or rocks.
What if this space remembers the beings that have passed through it?
Just as humans have many thoughts overlapping at the same time, I worked on it imagining a scene where a lot of memories piled up in space overlap.
This is the first theme in the ‘Memory of Space’ series, subtitled ‘My Little Garden’.
인간인 우리는 유한한 생명을 가지며 끊임없이 이동하는 존재입니다
반면 우리가 존재하고 있는 공간은 창조의 순간부터 지금까지 묵묵히 그 자리를 지키고 있습니다.
1년전, 10년전 아니 100년전에 지금 내 눈 앞에 있는 공간에선 어떤 일이 있었을까요?
시간대에 따라 서로 다른 존재가 같은 공간에 머물렀을 것입니다.
그것은 인간일수도, 물건일수도, 나무 일수도, 그냥 흙더미나 바위였을수도 있겠지요
이 공간이 그동안 자기를 거쳐간 존재들을 기억한다면 어떨까요? 인간의 머릿속에 여러가지 생각이 동시에 떠오르듯, 공간에 쌓여 있는 수많은 기억이 오버랩 되는 장면을 상상하며 작업해 보았습니다.
